Lothian Guide

With over 40 miles of magnificent coastline, golden beaches, rolling countryside, spectacular cliffs, award-winning tourist attractions and the world’s finest selection of links golf courses, Lothian combines the best of Scotland in miniature! It may feel like a million miles away, but it’s only minutes from Edinburgh by car, train or bus!

Lothian has something to offer everyone. The castles and churches are steeped in history while the unique venues of the Scottish Seabird Centre allow you to control cameras on the internationally reknown Bass Rock and the National Museum of Flight offers tours on Concorde! Musselburgh Racecourse hosts twenty-six fabulous race meetings a year and when you visit Glenkinchie Distillery you'll find out everything about Scotland's greatest export, malt whisky.

West Lothian has alot to offer from rolling hills, country parks to a wealth of historic attractions and heritage sites keeping any visitor enthralled. Linlithgow is an engaging town with Linlithgow Palace, The Canal Centre and the Linlithgow Story, just outside Edinburgh you can visit Hopetoun at Queensferry or Blackness Castle nearby.

The region of Midlothian is just a 10 mile drive away from Edinburgh and couples undualting hills and wooded countryside with a wealth of heritage sites including Rosslyn Chapel, an outstanding 15 century Gothic structure amde famous for its carvings and, more recently, it's association with Dan Brown's best seller "The Da Vinci Code".

East Lothian which boasts a magnificent coastline, beautiful beaches, golf courses, villages, museums, galleries and historic attractions none better than Lennoxlove House which is has a marvellous setting amongst the woodlands just 1 mile south of Haddington. East lothian also gets more hours of sunshine than anywhere else in Scotland which makes it a popular destination for holidays and weekend breaks.
